| We've done our best to
keep loading time to a minimum on this page, but it still takes a few
seconds...there are lots of images and cool stuff to check out here.
You might be able to relate to some of the cars we've built and restored
here, especially some of the race cars . We've sized these photos
to load as fast as possible, but they still take a few seconds (but
if there were no images on this page to look at, you probably wouldn't
even be here right now). |

The
Lime Rock Shelby Mustang track record holder: On Sept.
5, 2000, Chuck Bentley, owner of the #137 car pictured here, blew
the crowd away (and the rest of the competition, for that matter)
by setting a new Mustang/Shelby GT350 track record with a 00.59.650,
not only
winning the class, but also coming in
first overall... ahead of the Corvettes, Camaros, Porsches, and
Panteras. Chuck's car was completely built by Cobra Automotive
and is rigorously maintained for him by us throughout the race season.
He runs one of our full-boogy 289 race engines, and all of the brake
and suspension parts on Chuck's car are right out of our catalog.
This is what 500 hp in a lightweight, precision-tuned chassis looks
like. It's an unbelievably fast car...and Chuck sure
knows how to drive it. If
you click on the picture at right, you'll get a full screen blowup
of the entire picture. RIGHT CLICK on
the full blowup when it comes up, and you'll have a great
wallpaper for your desktop. Just click on the picture at right>>>>>

| Rolling
classroom: Many of the parts we now manufacture were developed
for our own company race car, #530, driven by our company president
and founder, Curt Vogt . Successful "experimental"
parts became production parts, like our big 12" front
disc brakes, oversize spindles, rollerized spring pivots, solid
front strut rods, our own custom-arched leaf springs, etc.
Now those parts...and many other race-developed parts...are
available to you through our catalog. Curt's
#530 finished second, by the way, right behind Chuck at Lime rock
on Labor Day weekend, for an exciting "Cobra Automotive"
1-2 finish (also, 3rd and 4th place were captured by Cobra Automotive
customers Peyton Feltus and Scott Hackenson, respectively. |

Many
of the original factory R-Models are now being raced just as
they were 35 years ago. Rick Kopec, the National Director
of the Shelby American Automobile Club, races his factory R-model,
5R098, as seen here. Rick relies on no other shop but Cobra Automotive
to keep his car race-ready and safe, every race season. Rick's
car also runs one of our 289 race engines for extra reliability. |

| Beautiful
cars of every description are constantly emerging from our
restoration shop. Dr. David Yanoff's original 427
Cobra #CSX3294 is a completely fresh car after a total restoration
by Cobra Automotive, with the assistance of acknowledged Cobra expert
Geoff Howard. This car came to Cobra Automotive in a
partially assembled state, and in bare aluminum. This
is only one of the many original Cobras we've completed here.
We also construct...and perform work on...any Cobra replica. |

We love lightweights
here. If you're thinking about restoring a '63 1/2 lightweight
Galaxie, look no further for a shop that knows these special Fords...because
at Cobra Automotive, we know our lightweight Galaxies.
This is only one of ten '63 1/2 lightweight Galaxies
that have been owned and restored by us. It does make
us a bit of an expert on them...and a great source of restoration
knowledge and expertise for any customers who own them, too (along
with the ten lightweights, we've also owned three of the
factory 427 Fairlane Thunderbolts). |

| Anybody
old enough to remember drag racing back in the 60's will remember
the famous Malco Gasser, powered by a 427 SOHC. This is another
one of our company president's (Curt Vogt) previous toys. Click
on the picture for some interesting specs.. |

During
that same era, there were a number of what were called "A/FX
Mustangs" (remember those?) and Dyno Don Nicholson's "Bob
Ford" AFX Mustang was one of them. This car set
track records every year, and won the A/Modified Production Championship
in 1969. It's powered by a 427 SOHC. Why are we showing
you this car? Because Curt Vogt owned this one, too.
He's always been a sucker for historic race cars...especially the
SOHC-powered ones. Got an SOHC-powered car and nobody to "tweak"
it? No problem...we love SOHC's here. |
|
 |
| Dragsters
are okay with us, too. What baby- boomer/drag race fan
could ever forget the incredible Rice-Holman "Batcar"?
Originally driven by Al Joniec, this intense AFX Mustang was yet
another SOHC-powered car to make its way in and out of Curt
Vogt's ever-changing private collection...here's Curt with the
"hammer down" after completing its restoration...this
was a totally accurate restoration, right down to the "Biff!
Bam! Zap! Pow!" lettering on the injector stacks. Holy
Batchutes...there's even a bat-shaped 'chute on the
back. |
